About the assignment status checker

Understand which assignment records IGNOU holds for you.

IGNOU records assignment, practical and project submissions for each course and session. The IGNOUConnect assignment status checker lets you enter your programme and enrollment number to review the records that are currently available for you. Records are grouped and colour-coded by type so theory, lab and project submissions are easier to scan.

What the assignment status tells you — and what it does not

The assignment status is a record of submission, not of marks. It confirms that a submission has been received and recorded for a course. The marks for that assignment are published separately on your grade card. Keeping this distinction in mind avoids confusion when a submission is visible but the marks are not yet shown.

How to use the assignment status checker

  1. Choose your programme from the dropdown.
  2. Enter your 9–10 digit enrollment number.
  3. Review the records shown, grouped by theory, lab/practical and project.
  4. Check the session and the recorded date for each submission.

Reading the status of each submission

Received — IGNOU has a record of your submission for that course.

Pending — the record exists but is still being processed at the university.

Not submitted — no submission record is currently shown for that course.

Why assignment records can be missing

Assignment records may be missing if the submission has not yet been processed, if it was not received by the study centre, or if the course belongs to a different session. Before assuming a submission was lost, confirm with your study centre that it was received, and check whether the course appears in another session. If the problem continues, use the appropriate official IGNOU channel.

Assignment status: frequently asked questions

What does the assignment status show?

It shows the assignment, practical and project submission records that IGNOU has on file for your enrollment and programme. It confirms that a submission is on record; it does not display the marks awarded.

Where can I see my assignment marks?

Assignment marks are published on your IGNOU grade card, not on the assignment status page. Use the grade card tool to review the marks once they are updated.

What does 'Received' mean?

In this tool, 'Received' means IGNOU has a record of your submission for that course. A 'Pending' status means the record exists but is still being processed at the university.

Why is my assignment not showing?

A submission may not appear if it has not yet been processed, if it was not received by the study centre, or if the session differs from the one you expected. Confirm the submission with your study centre before contacting IGNOU.

Why do some courses appear as Lab or Practical?

IGNOU programmes can include laboratory and practical courses in addition to theory courses. Lab and practical submissions are recorded separately and may have their own evaluation process.
